Igarashi Brewery

五十嵐酒造

Introduction

Founded in 1897 and relocated to Hanno, Saitama in 1937, the brewery uses pure well water from Okuchichibu to produce its flagship brand TENRANZAN, named after a historic mountain. It also brews the limited-edition IGARASHI, a Jikakumi Nama Genshu, which gained wider distribution through industry connections. The brewery has received numerous prestigious awards, including IWC medals and top honors at national sake competitions.

Story

Founded in 1897, the first generation of the brewery worked for Ozawa shuzo in Tokyo before starting their own business. The brewery was moved to its current location in Hanno, Saitama Prefecture in 1937. It is surrounded by clear air and stunning natural scenery at the confluence of the Naguri and Nariki rivers. Using underground water from Okuchichibu drawn from a well, the brewery has been nurturing the "TENRANZAN" brand, which was named after the mountain where Emperor Meiji inspected the military exercise of the Imperial Guards.

Additionally, the brewery produces a special limited-edition brand called "IGARASHI," made by Jikakumi Nama Genshu (directly to bottle from the pressing). "IGARASHI" started being shipped to liquor stores outside of the Kanto region thanks to the business relationship between one of the brewers and representative of Sakura Sake Shop, Takeshi Komazawa, who had previously worked together at Hasegawa Liquor Store.

The brewery has won a number of awards, including IWC medals, Omachi Summit Excellence Awards, the highest gold award in the Premium Warm Sake of KAN SAKE AWARD, the Excellent Award at the Nanbu Toji National Sake Competition, and more.
