MCG (Miyagi Craft Gin), headed by Kentaro Sugihara, current director of the Niizawa Brewery, was established as a craft gin distillery in June 2018. From the selection of raw materials, over hundreds of distillations, blending, and tastings, the long-awaited first product was released on May 7, 2020. Prior to this, the distillery was also one of the first in the industry to produce "Spirit 80," a disinfectant alcohol, with special government approval, amid the spread of the new coronavirus infection and a shortage for disinfectant alcohol.
