The Brewery

Hachinohe Shuzo's story began in 1740 when Komai Shozaburo left Omi Province in search of a place to brew sake in Mutsu (now Tohoku). Initially, Shozaburo produced malted rice (Koji) before founding the brewery in 1775. The brewery has been run for over eight generations. The current Shozaburo focuses on using locally grown Aomori rice, Aomori yeast, and spring water from Kanisawa to create environmentally friendly, healthy, and delicious sake under the Mutsu Hassen brand.
