The Brewery
Founded in 1688, Katsuyama is the sole remaining official brewery of the Date family from the Sendai clan, dedicated to preserving the 800-year legacy and traditions of the Date family. It is also a forward-thinking brewery, once managing restaurants in Paris and Florence and currently operating Tohoku's premier music school, a wedding hall, and several authentic restaurants in Sendai City. Katsuyama consistently innovates, offering sakes that pair globally with various cuisines and introducing breakthroughs like luxury centrifugal pressing and terroir concepts, as well as sakes akin to noble rot wines and those that complement cigars.
